Myrtle Beach 31 Greer 21
The Greer Yellow Jackets could not survive a
second half flurry by Myrtle Beach and lost the AAAA
championship to the Sea Hawks.

Greer held a four point half time lead, but Myrtle
Beach put 21 unanswered points on the scoreboard
to take command of the game.

Future Gamecock quarterback Luke Doty ran and
threw for two touchdown in the quarter.

Greer tried to rally and cut the Myrtle Beach lead to
10 points. Matthew Huff hit Jaleel Skinner for a 66
yard touchdown pass to close the third quarter.

Myrtle Beach won the 8th championship for the

The Myrtle Beach defense kept Greer's outstanding
running back Dre Williams in check. Williams scored
Greer's first touchdown on a 34 yard pass from Huff,
but was never able to get into the end zone on the

Doty who is a junior, and a future Gamecock, was
the offensive star of the game. Doty rushed for 77
yards and a touchdown. He completed  24 of 35
passes for 244 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The win gives Myrtle Beach the schools eighth state
championship in school history.

Chester 34   Dillon 28
Chester completed an undefeated season (15-0) and
claimed the AAA championship with a 34-28 win over

The defending AAA champions did not go down
without a fight. The Wildcats seemed to be
outplayed most of the game by Chester, but still had
a chance to win with a little over a minute left in the

The Cyclones held a 21-6 half time lead. Chester
built the lead with a pair of Pha'Leak Brown
touchdown runs and a 96 yard interception return
for a score by Stan Mills.

In the second half Chester added to their lead when
Dorian Bagley caught a 24 yard touchdown pass
from Zan'Jerry Dunham to increase the Cyclones
lead to 22 points.

However, in the last five minutes of the game Dillon
scored 22 points to get within one score of making
an amazing comeback and winning their second
straight AAA title.

Chester opened the door for the Wildcats when
Jagen Hinton fumbled a 4th down punt snap turning
the ball over to Dillon on the Chester 24 yard line
with 1:30 left in the game.

The Chester defense sacked Dillon quarterback Jay
Lester twice in the last five plays run by the Wildcats.

The final sack came with 13 second left. Teddy
Murphy caught Lester for an 8 yard loss to wrap up
the win.

Brown led the Chester attack with 103 yards rushing
and three touchdowns while the Cyclone defense
sacked Lester five times and picked off three passes.

The championship was the seventh earned by the
Cyclones and the first since 1963.

The Abbeville Panthers won their fourth straight
SC AA Championship.
Abbeville 48   Barnwell  14
